Jolene holds a personal styling qualification from The Wardrobe Academy and offers a wide range of one-on-one fashion consultations. Services offered include:
With her wealth of fashion experience and natural flair, Jolene can assist you with anything from what to wear to your next big occasion or a complete wardrobe makeover! According to Jolene, personal styling is all about finding your shape, your style and your colour.
Finding your shape is the best place to start because once you know the shape of your body, you will know what to buy and how to wear it.
Hourglass should aim to show off her slim waist and curves without over-emphasizing bust and hips. (examples-Nigella Lawson, Scarlett Johansson and Salma Hayek)
Inverted triangle should aim to create balance by accentuating hips, bottom and legs and minimise broad shoulders. (Cameron Diaz, Naomi Campbell and Renee Zellweger)
Rectangular should aim to create the illusion of a curvier more feminine fiqure by emphasizing bust, hips and bottom and creating the illusion of a waist. (Keira Knightley, Nicole Kidman and Kate Moss)
Triangle should aim to create balance by accentuating shoulders, bust and waist and minimising hips, thighs and bottom. (Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera & Beyoncé)
Diamond (apple) should aim to elongate the upper body, lift the bust and bring shape to the waist. (Kathy Bates, Drew Barrymore and Hillary Duff)
Never force yourself into a look that you aren’t comfortable with – it will show. When it comes to style, the aim is to find your “centre”, as it were, accept your style and stick within its boundaries.
This look is relaxed, informal and practical. Women who this style mostly use denims and cottons in natural colours. They do not spend much time shopping and aren’t overly concerned about fashion.
This style captures the essence of a traditional woman: timeless, powerful, tasteful and distinguished. The look is more formal and conservative, often seen with neat and elegant suits or co-ordinated separates.
This look is “high maintenance”. Women who dress this way have great personal taste and impeccable attention to detail. This style consists mostly of classic pieces with a contemporary cut found in high-end boutiques and are often seen as investment pieces.
This look is for a woman who enjoys a combination of the latest fashion trends but adds sophistication to not look too “young”. Clothing tends to be well cut, tailored pieces with a twist: sexy without being overt and modern without being too trendy. High heels are a big feature in this wardrobe.
This is a younger style for women who are trend setters, committed to fashion and not afraid to try anything news. They love shopping and are happy to mix low-end chain stores pieces with high-end couture.
This look captures the essence of femininity, the real “girly girls”. Ladies who wear this style prefer pastel colours and floral prints, lace, silks or velvet which are interpreted as pretty, warm, feminine, sweet and ladylike.
To find out what the right colour is for you, hold a coloured shirt close to your face and then look at your face. Does the colour lift you up and make you bright and healthy, or does it darken the rings under your eyes and makes your skin dull?
We are so used to looking at a colour alone and not looking at our faces to see what the colour does to our skin tone. You should wear the colour, the color should not wear you, keep this mind when looking at yourself in the mirror.
